Shelly Chmelyk (Funk) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in the early hours Monday morning, February 18, 2013 in Prince George, BC. She was only 41. Born in Fort St. John BC on March 3, 1971, she grew up on a grain farm in Golata Creek 45 min east of the city. She is known and adored for many notable accomplishments, but will be dearly remembered for her electric smile, sparkly personality, love of life, generous heart and deep connection with horses. We are all better off for having known her and sharing space with this amazing girl. She is already deeply missed by the love of her life, Rick Loreth, her son, Bryan Funk, her parents, Berny and Shirley Chmelyk, her sisters, Brenda (Richard Van Kannel) and Sandra (Darryl Zoerb), her nieces, Mia and Kali and many other dear friends, family and pets. A celebration of Shelly's life will be held at 2pm Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Kinsmen Community Complex (777 Kinsmen Place, Prince George, BC.). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shelly's name to the Prince George Hospice Society where she was lovingly cared for in her last days.
