Leila Ida Sinikka Saarela October 6, 1934 August 17, 2012 In the summer of 1967 Leila said goodbye to her family and friends in Finland, & courageously embarked on a journey clear across the world. With her husband and three small boys in tow she fully embraced all that was in becoming a Canadian. With car windows down and red hair flying she would pile everyone in the car and set out exploring the back roads and highways of B.C. Leila loved the outdoors and took great pride and pleasure in her truck and camper. Every spring she couldn't wait to get the boat in the water and go fishing. Leila also brought her love of music and dancing with her; when Leila and Matti hit the dance floor the room fell silent, it was one of those moments that made time stand still. But Leila's greatest treasure by far was that of her husband and family. Leila continually thanked God for blessing her with a healthy family. On a beautiful summer morning August 17, 2012, surrounded by those she loved, Leila said goodbye once again to family and friends and made her last courageous journey. Leila will be forever held in the heart of her dearest friend and husband Matti Saarela, her wonderful sons, Tapani (Heather), Jari (Vickie), Juhani (Jackie), Brian (Cindy) and her ten beloved grandchildren and two precious great grandchildren. By request there will be no service. If you wish to honour Leila's name please make a donation to the Prince George Hospice House. Until we meet again Aiti, mina rakastan sinua.
